How is hazardous waste from abatement disposed of?
Regulated abatement waste must be sealed in leak-tight, labeled containers and transported to a licensed disposal facility — never placed in ordinary trash. CT DPH regulations and OSHA standards (29 CFR 1926.1101 for asbestos; 1926.62 for lead) require that asbestos- and lead-containing debris be double-bagged or containerized, properly labeled, and disposed of at an approved site.
